Every time there are quicknotes, they don't appear instantly so i have to click on a page just to get them. is there a way of them coming up as soon as they are sent? this would be a help.
I usually just hit f5 to refresh the page.
hmm, sometimes, I have noticed that if you press f5, it doesn't always bring the new quicknotes up when I've known they're definitely there. However, the moment I go and click on a link, they come up. the problem with having them automatically pop up, is that, that would mean the page would esentially have to auto-refresh, meaning it would be very very difficult to write board posts etc because every time it'd auto-refresh, you'd lose what you'd written. Some websites do auto-refresh, and I hate it.
yeah. and that would be hard for us who are blind, because at times people send quicknotes very fast, we couldn't read them if the page refreshed automatically.
Sometimes, it is like that when you refresh, but that could be because the server is slowing down or something. I doubt it has something to do with the code. Maybe it just takes a little bit for the quicknote to appear because of slowdowns. Unfortunately, not much can be done about server slowdowns.
Well, this sounds wonderful if you had it set to block mass quicknotes, but it would probably be hectic and overwhelming if you had mass quicknotes turned on. I wish it could be done for private qns though.

The quicknotes basically appear as soon as you hit Send (even before the next page is displayed). After that point, each person gets them when they next load a page on the site.
that happens to me too and drives me up the wall.
well, I mostly have either private notes on, or no quicknotes on, though I did briefly have public quicknotes on, and if the ones I'm talking to privately consider answering their private qns a low priority, it gives me something to do till they feel like answering me. I'm talking about mostly when they quicknote me first, then take ten minutes or so to respond, then ii'm grateful that the public notes occur instantly. If they are responding quickly, I canjust hit letter e, to get to the send quicknote edit field, and just bypass the public quicknotes altogether. I have only mass quicknotes turned off now, because I've decided if they stop responding to my notes, I'll give them about a minute or so, check their profile, then if they're in a game, I'll just log off. So I'm not sure it matters to me if the public notes occur instantly or not.

They occur instantly in that they are available instantly. The problem is that, if someone is on a page for a while, their will be a delay before they next pull up a new page and get waiting quicknotes. If I'm reading a long board discussion and don't pull up a new page for 10 minutes, and you send me a quicknote a minute after I've begun reading, it will be at least 9 minutes before I even see your quicknote. If you're on a page for 5 minutes, and get the note I send 2 minutes after going there, it'll be an additional 3 minutes before you read it. A total of 12 minutes (if my math is right) will elapse between you sending the first quicknote and getting my response.
That's why I don't read boards when I'm having a quick note convo with people. I keep hitting page refresh continuously to better enable me to respond faster. I'm not talking about people I quicknote first, I'm quite a bit more patient when I was the one who sent the note first, I mean in a case like that, it's that persons' perogative to answer me or not. It's just usually, when I'm quicknoting with someone, I'm not doing anything except that, because mostly I'm a terrible multitasker.

I think it's a very good suggestion. I think they do appear instantly if the person responds instantly, which I always do, unless one or 2 others quicknote me, then I can't respond to each as fast as I'd like, but I think it's a good suggestion
